Root-Canal Treatment
Have you been experiencing great discomfort in one of your teeth?
Sometimes if you have a cavity, a deeper crack in your tooth, trauma to the tooth, or a leaking restoration, the soft tissue inside the canal of your tooth called dental pulp may become infected or abscessed, leading to great discomfort and pain. You may also experience severe sensitivity to cold and hot food and liquids accompanied by spontaneous throbbing. This condition can only be treated with what’s called root canal treatment.
Root Canal Therapy & Endodontic Treatment
During root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment, one of our dentists will gently anesthetize the tooth, and carefully clean, disinfect, and fill the interior of the affected tooth to prevent any other bacteria from entering. To return the tooth to its full functioning capacity, the last step of root canal therapy at our Guelph practice consists of restoring the tooth with a tooth-coloured dental crown.
